ISSUES

Dana YoungJumpstarting the Economy

For Florida’s economy to rebound, we need to keep taxes down, maintain fiscal discipline, and create a business climate where new and existing industries can thrive.  More government regulation and spending is not the answer.

Quality Schools

Quality education is essential for our state to grow and prosper.  Parental involvement, along with excellent teachers and accountable classrooms are keys to success.  I recognize that the “one size fits all” model is not an effective way to educate our children, and I support measures to give parents the ability to choose the best educational options for their children.

Smarter (and Smaller) Government

Now, more than ever, government must prioritize its spending to focus on its core missions: schools, public safety, infrastructure, and assisting children and seniors in need.  We need to scrutinize all government spending, with a clear sense of what is really in the best interest of our state.  No sacred cows, and no “bridges to nowhere.”

Safe Streets

Lax punishment leads to more crimes being committed and less safety for our citizens.  Every year, bills are introduced in the Legislature to let convicted criminals out of prison before they’ve completed their sentences. We must continue to stop these efforts, which could put our communities in peril.
