PUTNAM TO HOLD ENERGY SUMMIT IN AUGUST

Continuing to try to move forward with a state energy strategy, Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam said Friday he will hold an energy summit in August in Orlando. The summit, which follows a similar event last year, is scheduled for Aug. 15 through Aug. 17 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort. Putnam has pushed for changes that could help increase the use of renewable sources of energy, such as biofuels. Lawmakers passed an energy bill this year, but it was widely described as making modest changes. “The 2012 Florida Energy Summit will build upon the discussions from last year’s summit and provide thoughtful direction about Florida’s energy potential,” Putnam said in a news release announcing the event.
